Time to Kickstart Your Side Project
What to expect from our first ever SIDE PROJECT event
We’re running our first SIDE PROJECT event next Friday, and I’ve already got butterflies.
The good kind. The ones that flutter in when you’ve been thinking about something for a long time, talking about it, planning it, and then suddenly it’s actually happening and real people are coming and you think: oh, right. Good.
So, next Friday 13th March, 12pm at PLATF9RM Hove, a group of intrepid creative people will be gathering together to kickstart their Side Projects. There are only five tickets left. If you haven’t got one yet, grab it here.
What To Look Forward To
Ben and I built SIDE PROJECT around one observation: most creative events are about talking. You go, you share your ideas, someone nods supportively, you leave feeling vaguely inspired and then absolutely nothing happens. We built SIDE PROJECT as an antidote for that. SIDE PROJECT is your vehicle for action.
So our inaugural SIDE PROJECT event, Kickstart Your Side Project, is going to be pretty action packed.
After an unblocking exercise and a quick chat around the table, there will be a 20-minute sprint in the middle where everyone actually works on their thing. Some people will write. Some will sketch. Some will set up an Instagram account or finally buy that domain they’ve been eyeing for two years.
The point isn’t what you do, it’s that you do it with other people that are also taking action around you. That shift, from “I’ll start this weekend” to “I’ve already started”, is what we’re here for.
Someone who’s already signed up has told us they’re coming with eight ideas and no idea which one to commit to. We love that, and we’ve thought about it a lot while designing this session. If that problem feels familiar to you, this session will help you figure it out.
If you’ve got a ticket already, we’re really glad you’re coming. Bring whatever you need to actually work, laptop, sketchbook, notebook.
And if you’re still on the fence, the link is below. Imagine heading into the weekend having started something you actually care about on a Friday lunchtime.
SIDE PROJECT is a creative community based in Brighton, built for the people who are making things alongside real life. We run events, publish a collaborative Substack, and champion creative people in and around the city.
Got a creative side project you’re working on? We’d love to hear about it. Send us a DM.
And don’t forget to get your ticket for KICKSTART YOUR SIDE PROJECT before they sell out!
