SIDE PROJECT Events
What's on May - Sept 2026
Our programme of events is curated for people in Brighton and Hove who make things on the side, wish they did, or forgot they could. Come to one, come to all of them.
Psst - paid subscribers to our Substack get free or discounted access to all events…
22nd May - SIDE PROJECT Beach Walk + Hideaway Coffee
A walk along the seafront to Temple at Black Rock: a speciality coffee shop housed in a restored 1835 seafront folly, with sea views, high arched windows, and great coffee and pastries. Run by the team behind Portland Brighton.
There’s no agenda – just fresh air and good conversation with other people who want to make more space for the things they really care about. We’ll bring art supplies for anyone who feels like capturing the moment.
28th May - SIDE PROJECT: Do Something Good - PLATF9RM Brighton
Want to use your creativity to do some good, but not sure where to start? Come to our breakfast event, where we’ll put our heads together on how we might make a difference.
We’ll kick off at 10am with a screening of ACTionism — an inspiring short film about finding your people and taking collective action.
Then we’ll move into small group conversations using the World Café method: a format designed to get real ideas flowing between people who don’t normally talk to each other.
The question we’re sitting with: how do we use our creativity to make a difference?
11th June - SIDE PROJECT Away Day in the Countryside - Starnash Farmhouse, Upper Dicker
A half day in the countryside, dedicated to your creative side project.
Get on with that novel that’s been taking shape in your head. Bring paints and canvases and create something real. Use the time to think big and plan your next steps. Whatever you’re working on, this is your chance to do it away from the usual noise.
We’ll enjoy a welcome coffee, a few hours of creative coworking in a beautiful rural studio, and a home-cooked lunch together.
16th July - SIDE PROJECT Sweat, Flow, Create - Saltdean Lido Sauna
There’s a reason so many creatives swear by the sauna.
This session explores the link between heat, flow state, and creativity. We’ll start with a short talk on how a regular sauna practice can unlock creative thinking, followed by a 30 min sauna, followed by a creative coworking session over lunch in the café. The idea is to feel the effect, not just hear about it.
Come with something creative to work on. Leave feeling relaxed and accomplished.
10th September - Showcase Your SIDE PROJECT Online - venue TBC
People who are creative on the side often feel uncomfortable showing their work to the world, or just don’t know where to start.
This 90-minute workshop is about building a home for your side project online. Led by brand strategist Rose Radtke and growth marketing specialist Ben Walton, we’ll help you work out what to put where, how to talk about your work, and how to show up without it feeling like a performance.
SIDE PROJECT is a creative community based in Brighton, built for the people who are making things alongside real life. We run events, publish a collaborative Substack, and we’re always looking for the next person to spotlight.
Got a creative side project you’re working on? We’d love to hear about it. Send us a DM.
